The Music For All Foundation has launched a resource to help live music professionals include artists with disabilities in their line-ups and move towards a more accessible industry. The initiative takes the form of the Guide to Accessible and Inclusive Music Productions, developed in collaboration with Crash Music and funded by the Ministry of Culture and Sport.
The guide provides practical recommendations for integrating accessibility into every stage of concert planning. Topics covered include artist booking, ticket sales, communication with artists, technical requirements, adapting venues and spaces, and budget planning.
The guide was presented on 13 October at El Intruso venue in Madrid, during a concert by Laura Diepstraten, a singer-songwriter and pianist who has been blind since birth and has recently embarked on her first venue tour with her musical project and album Notas de Salida. The performance featured subtitling and audio description services provided by CESyA, with the collaboration of Madrid en Vivo and support from ACCES.
Through this initiative, Music For All highlights the importance of anticipating each artist’s needs and coordinating all the teams involved to ensure that accessibility is considered from the very beginning of the production process, rather than being addressed only on the day of the concert.
The guide is available to consult and download on the Music For All Foundation website.
