The Council of Ministers today approved, at the proposal of the Minister of Culture, Ernest Urtasun, the appointment of Javier Monsalve as Director General of Performing Arts and Music.
Monsalve thus begins a new phase in which greater collaboration between public institutions, companies, and independent artists is expected. His priorities include the promotion and dissemination of music, theater, dance, and circus arts, managing grants, awards, and subsidies for the performing arts and music sectors, as well as safeguarding cultural heritage and coordinating with the industry.
With this appointment, the Ministry of Culture makes effective the start of the comprehensive reform of the INAEM, announced last February by the Minister of Culture, Ernest Urtasun, and the Director General of the INAEM, Paz Santa Cecilia, and the result of months of work in the design of a new management that will allow to improve and specialize the support that the Ministry of Culture gives to the performing arts and music sector.
