On platforms like Spotify, YouTube, and TikTok, the proliferation of AI-generated music is testing their moderation mechanisms. Each platform’s response varies: Spotify seeks to prevent misleading imitations, while YouTube makes monetization conditional on content providing added value. TikTok, for its part, requires proper labeling of this type of material, and Apple Music is working with record labels like Universal to prevent unauthorized use of its catalog in training AI models.

To detect these creations, Deezer has developed an identification system with 99.8% accuracy. However, regulation faces obstacles such as legal fragmentation and a lack of global standards. Platforms such as Spotify and Meta have expressed dissatisfaction with the piecemeal approach of the European AI Act. Furthermore, experts warn that tagging systems could fail and end up harming real artists.

From an economic perspective, musical AI could generate millions in revenue: CISAC estimates that by 2028, music created by artificial intelligence could generate up to €4 billion. However, without common standards regulating its use, this phenomenon poses a real threat to the sustainability of the traditional music industry.
