Cultural employment is expected to grow by 6.6% in 2024, consolidating the sector’s recovery after the pandemic crisis.

According to data from the Ministry of Culture and Sport, this increase represents 3.6% of total employment in the country, consolidating the sector's recovery after the health crisis. In 2019, cultural employment stood at 710,000 workers, while in 2024 the figure has reached 771,000, thus surpassing pre-pandemic levels.

The cultural sector in Spain experienced 6.6% growth in 2024 compared to the previous year, reaching a total of 771,000 employees. This is reflected in the latest Labor Force Survey (EPA) published by the Ministry of Culture. This increase represents 3.6% of total employment in the country and confirms the sector’s recovery after the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Employment in cultural activities has exceeded 2019 levels by 8.6%, demonstrating a positive trend since 2020. According to official data, since that year, employment in culture has increased by 15.4% compared to 2020, 11.6% compared to 2021, and 10.9% compared to 2022.

Regarding job stability, the report highlights that permanent contracts in the sector have increased by 19% since 2022, while temporary contracts have decreased by 9.1%. This translates to 33,300 more permanent contracts than in the previous year. These data reflect a solid recovery of cultural employment in Spain, consolidating its importance within the national economy.
